New Jersey Food Stamps
Food stamps are available to low-income households, including families, couples without children, individuals, seniors, disabled persons, legal immigrants and victims of family violence.

Eligibility:
Eligibility depends on several factors like income, household size, resources, etc. The current resource limit is $2,000. (For seniors, the resource limit is $3,000.)
You can apply at your County Welfare Agency or Board of Social Services or online.

Welfare Benefits:

WorkFirst New Jersey(WFNJ) is the state of New Jersey’s public assistance program, designed to help families move to self-sufficiency by offering them a full array of supports, from child care, health insurance and transportation, to substance abuse treatment and emergency funds. Recipients face a five-year lifetime limit on cash assistance, and must become employed or take part in work activities.

License Restoration

What to do when your license is suspended

If your driving privileges have been suspended, you will need to pay a Restoration Fee of $100. If the judge did not take your license in court, you must surrender it at any MVC Regional Service Center, MVC Agency offering walk-in service or mail to:

Do not drive until you restore your license and receive a written notice of restoration
If you continue to drive while your license is suspended, you could face up to five years in jail

Possible reasons your license can be suspended

  • If you receive 12 or more points on your current driver record
  • Failure to appear in court or to pay fines
  • Failure to pay surcharges
  • Driving with a suspended license
  • Failure to provide proof of insurance

  • Drug or alcohol use while driving
  • Reckless driving
  • Vehicle abandonment on a public highway
  • Fault in a fatal accident


Energy Assistance

The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs offers financial assistance to low-come eligible households that are having difficulty paying their heating and cooling bills, and makes provisions for emergency heating system services and emergency fuel assistance through their Home Energy Assistance (HEA) and Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
